EMERGING LEADERS PROGRAMME

Name: EMERGING LEADERS PROGRAMME

Subject Area: Leadership

Target Audience: Participants for this program will be middle managers from across all schools. This includes subject, grade, resource centre, learning difficulties coordinators and any other official school based coordinators.

Overview: The program will focus, to a great extent, around the professional standards for school leaders, and how these have an impact on teachers and the teacher standards. It will clearly support their work in their current role.

Trainer: A team from Education Queensland International (EQI).

Objective: To develop subject coordinators, age phase coordinators and all middle managers’ leadership skills. This programme will introduce the seven leadership standards and assist participants in the application of their middle management role. There will be the option to undertake accredited activities, which, if successfully completed, would lead to credits to a higher degree .

Schedule: The following schedule includes the modules and proposed dates. All sessions, except the 3 afternoon assessment modules, will be compulsory for participants who commence the program. NOTE: The assessment modules will be offered to those who want to extend this training to obtain some advanced credit towards a university diploma that is being negotiated. These modules will have an asterisk(*)next to them. .

Instructions for Principals/Operators: Principal/Operators can nominate one (1) participant from their school. Principals/Operators of complexes can nominate 1 from each site. A maximum of 80 participants will be included in the program and places offered in the order they are received.

In making a nomination principal operators should consider an applicant who meets the following criteria.

  • Is currently employed as a coordinator.
  • Is demonstrating significant leadership skills within this role.
  • Is keen to contribute to others within and beyond their current role.
  • Has aspirations for career advancement
  • Is committed and able to attend all modules as described above.
  • Can be released to attend all modules
