School Clusters
The National Professional Standards for Teachers and School Leaders underpin the work of schools. They provide a clear vision or the performance, knowledge, skills and dispositions that teachers and school leaders need to support the Curriculum Standards.
In 2008/9 schools are supported in their understanding and application of the professional standards by external facilitators employed under contract by the SEC. Each Independent School in Qatar has been assigned to a cluster, roughly geographic in nature, with a mix of cohorts and are supported by a cluster facilitator. These cluster facilitators support the work in the individual schools but also assist in fostering a learning community within and across schools in the cluster.
